The below job description will outline this position of: Cyber Security Engineer

Typically, this person will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining cyber security across both internal and customer environments.

The role focuses on securing network infrastructure, responding to security incidents, monitoring threats, ensuring compliance with industry standards and providing technical expertise across the business.

Working closely with IT, Engineering and Compliance teams, the Cyber Security Engineer will help protect critical systems supporting satellite communications, maritime and government customers.

HSB Technical's client is an established and well-regarded business entity operating within the satellite communications and maritime technology sector.

Duties and responsibilities of the Cyber Security Engineer:

  • Develop and maintain information security plans, policies and procedures
  • Implement and manage security controls across internal and customer networks
  • Monitor SIEM platforms, IDS/IPS systems and other security tools for threats and vulnerabilities
  • Investigate and resolve cyber security incidents and security alerts
  • Carry out vulnerability assessments and recommend security improvements
  • Design, build, test and troubleshoot network security solutions
  • Provide third-line technical support for complex cyber security issues
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, security policies and configuration guides
  • Work closely with Engineering and IT teams to ensure secure network design and operation
  • Educate and support colleagues on cyber security best practices and emerging threats
  • Participate in incident management and continual security improvement initiatives

Qualifications and requirements for the Cyber Security Engineer:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience designing and managing secure enterprise networks
  • Strong experience with Cisco Firewalls, Routers and Switches
  • Experience with Juniper networking platforms
  • Hands-on knowledge of SIEM, IDS/IPS and vulnerability management
  • Experience carrying out or supporting penetration testing activities
  • Understanding of ISO27001, GDPR and ITIL best practices
  • Ability to communicate technical cyber security concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong documentation and organisational skills
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities
  • Eligible to obtain SC Security Clearance
