On behalf of our client we are seeking a skilled Joiner to join our team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the construction, assembly, and fitting of wooden structures and components aboard new-build fishing vessels and marine repair projects. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail, experience in bespoke joinery, and ideally, a background in the shipbuilding or maritime sector.

Duties and responsibilities of the Joiner:
       

  • Construct and fit vessel interiors to client specifications based on technical drawings.
  • Install floor joists, soundproofing, and insulation to marine standards.
  • Fit marine-grade plywood flooring and build walls and partitions using fire-treated timber.
  • Manufacture and install bespoke joinery including bunks, seat lockers, wardrobes, and kitchen units.
  • Install laminated wall panels, wet wall systems, and Corian worktops.
  • Fabricate and fit hardwood skirting, architraves, and curved/angled finishes.
  • Carry out insulation works and install wooden decking on new build and repair projects.
  • Undertake refit and modernisation tasks, as well as general joinery repairs on various vessels.
  • Maintain a high standard of safety and craftsmanship throughout all work.            

            

Qualifications and requirements for the Joiner:

  • Time-served Joiner / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Carpentry or Joinery.
  • Experience in shipbuilding or maritime joinery (preferred but not essential).           
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and capable of working independently.
  • Able to manage workload under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • A practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving.
