The below job description will outline this position of: Marine Options Cost Engineer
Typically, this person will take ownership of compiling and managing detailed cost data relating to bespoke marine build options. They will coordinate material and labour inputs, working cross-functionally to develop accurate and commercially viable cost models to support Sales and Project teams in producing competitive client proposals.

Duties and responsibilities of the Marine Options Cost Engineer:
- Compile and analyse material requirements for client-specified options, including identifying and quantifying components to be removed from the standard Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Produce high-level Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates to enable timely responses to Sales and Project Management teams.
- Coordinate second-stage detailed cost reviews with Production, Design, and Materials Planning teams to validate accuracy within the Finance system Option Job Cards.
- Assess and calculate labour requirements, including both installation time and time offsets from standard build configurations.
- Review frequently selected options to ensure up-to-date pricing, margin protection, and commercial viability across production areas.
- Support new product and equipment evaluation in collaboration with Project Management, Design, and Procurement teams.
- Work closely with Procurement to ensure appropriate supplier due diligence, cost optimisation, and quality standards are achieved.Assist in maintaining and updating the Sales Options portfolio.
- Provide support and deputise for the Build Estimating Manager when required.
Qualifications and requirements for the Marine Options Cost Engineer:
- Strong knowledge of marine vessels and associated onboard systems and equipment.
- Broad understanding of marine manufacturing or vessel build processes.
- Excellent numerical ability with strong IT skills, particularly in Excel and ERP systems (Navision or similar preferred).
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently using initiative.
- Commercially aware with a results-driven mindset and collaborative approach.
- Previous experience within marine manufacturing, yacht building, or a similar engineering environment is desirable.
