Typically this person will be:

A hands-on, enthusiastic Mechanical Fitter, ideally with marine experience, who enjoys working on both new builds and service/maintenance projects. They will be confident working independently or as part of a team, solving engineering problems, and supporting high standards of quality and continuous improvement. The role is suited to someone with experience on small and large marine craft, including engines, propulsion systems, gearboxes, pumps, and other mechanical equipment.

Key Responsibilities of a Mechanical Fitter:

• Assemble, strip down, overhaul, and maintain marine craft and specialist mechanical equipment
• Work closely with the design team to resolve engineering issues.
• Lead, motivate, and support a small team while instilling a culture of cleanliness, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Read and work from engineering drawings accurately.
• Ensure all work is completed to deadlines and to the required quality standards.
• Work overtime as requested to support production or service requirements.
• Operate safely in both new build and repair/maintenance environments.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

• Time-served/Apprentice Trained Mechanical Fitter or NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Qualification.
• Proven experience in mechanical fitting, assembly, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of marine engines, propulsion systems, and other mechanical equipment.
• Experience working on small and large marine craft.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
